International Literacy Association's Reading Today

Close Reading Lesson

My free close reading lesson is on Teachers Pay Teachers!  I used this lesson with two of my reading groups...one fourth grade and one fifth grade group.  I was even observed by my Language Arts Coordinator during one of my group's sessions.  It was a successful lesson!

If you would like to use it, go to TPT and look up Maria LaPlaca Bohrer.  It's free!!!

I must give my daughter, Erica Bohrer, a TPT professional seller for setting me up on the site.  I couldn't have done it without her.  She is amazing!

  1. This makes me so proud to be a member of such a talented family with a heart that keeps us all linked no matter how far we are from that stoop. It warms my heart to know that more children will get to know Grandpa Frank as I was so fortunate to. As an educator myself I know that he was one through and through, what better legacy to leave than a story for others to share.

  2. Thank you, Kristi. I am honored to share my memories of Uncle Frankie, your grandpa, with everyone who reads Sofia's Stoop Story. Everyone who knew him, loved him. Frank Affisco greeted everyone with a smile and a kind word. And yes, although not formally trained as an educator, he was truly a natural teacher...we all learned so much from him. We WILL be forever connected. I hope to see you at one of my book signings.
