  1. I want to say what a delightful experience it was today meeting you at the Lindenhurst Library and listening to Sofia's Stoop Story. I too grew up on Long Island and would visit my Italian grandparents every Sunday in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. My grandparents had a small grocery story on Nassau Av. Sunday was family day and all showed up for meatballs, braciole and sozeecha. After dinner the family with either gather in the small background, rich with growing figs and vegetables or sit on the stoop and talk. It was a wonderful time and your book brought back so many of those memories. Thank you. Doreen
